The new railway infrastructure is proposed to be built from the Berda freight station.

The Russian occupiers plan to build a new railway line to the port of the temporarily occupied Berdiansk, the CFTS portal reports.

Russia’s Unified Institute of Spatial Planning has proposed dismantling the existing railway line that runs through the central part of the city and along the municipal beach and building a new railway infrastructure from the Berda freight station.

“This will reduce the length of the freight train route from the border of the Berdiansk district to the seaport from 17.8 to 7.5 kilometers and increase the port’s cargo turnover,” the proposal states.

As reported by the CFTS portal, the Russians continue to increase the capacity for exporting stolen goods from the ports of occupied Mariupol and Berdiansk. In particular, from June 2023 to December 2024, the infrastructure of these two ports was systematically transferred. In total, 93 real estate assets, including 40 hydraulic engineering structures and 33 vessels, were appropriated and placed under the ownership of the occupying power.

As reported previously, the Russian occupiers continue illegally exporting grain crops (at least 50%), metallurgical products, chemical products, and white clay (kaolin) from the Polohy deposit through the ports of Berdiansk and Mariupol.
