Ports in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea handled over 2 million tons of cargo in 2023.

The CFTS portal reported this, citing the publication PortNews.

According to the Russian publication, 235,000 vehicles and 30,000 railcars were transported through the Crimean ports last year.

It also reported that the occupiers transferred ownership of the assets of the Kerch and Feodosia commercial ports and the Kerch ferry crossing to the Russian federal government. However, the assets of the Yalta and Yevpatoria ports remain under Crimea’s control for now.

As reported previously, the Russians are actively exporting stolen Ukrainian grain through Crimean ports. In particular, from Sevastopol stolen grain is shipped to Syria or, for example, Venezuela. From Feodosia, it is shipped to Turkey or Russian ports for subsequent export to foreign markets.

It should be noted that these figures should be treated with caution, as the Russians previously claimed that Crimean ports handled 2.2 million tons of cargo in January-October 2023.

This represents a sevenfold increase compared to the same period in 2022. Such a significant increase in grain exports through Crimean ports can only be attributed to the Russians exporting grain from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
