Port Workers on Strike in Berdiansk
Workers are on strike because the Russians have not paid their salaries for several months.
Port workers are on strike in occupied Berdiansk, Petro Andriuschenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, has announced.
According to Andriuschenko, the port workers are on strike because the Russian occupiers have not paid their salaries for several months.
“Once again, the port workers in occupied Berdiansk are on a real strike,” he said.
Last year, the Russian Federation announced that the process of “taking over” the property of the Berdiansk seaport was nearing completion. The aggressor country has taken possession of (i.e., officially stolen) 29 real estate objects and 8 vessels.
In the future, the occupiers plan to dredge the waters of the port and the approach channel to it.
As the CFTS portal reported, the Russian occupiers have launched the Nova Khortytsia grain terminal in the seaport of Berdiansk, which is located in the temporarily occupied part of the Zaporizhia region. The occupiers are trying to establish a process for exporting stolen Ukrainian grain. To this end, they are using the infrastructure of Ukrainian agricultural and stevedoring enterprises located in areas outside the control of Ukrainian authorities. Local collaborators have “nationalized” several key facilities, including the Nova Khortytsia grain elevator in Berdiansk, the Asket shipping company’s loading complex in the port of Berdiansk, and the elevators of Kernel, Optimus, and other grain traders.
